When someone you love dies, the grief is heavy enough.
What most people aren’t prepared for is everything that comes after.
Unbury the Burden is both a deeply personal story and a practical guide for the person who gets left holding the pieces — the paperwork, the decisions, the digital accounts, and the memories.
This book doesn’t ask you to plan out of fear.
It invites you to plan out of love.
Available October 6, 2025
Preparing today for the peace they’ll need tomorrow.

It’s real. It’s here.
And it’s ready to help.
Written by someone who has lived every step of it, Unbury the Burden blends honest storytelling with clear, actionable guidance — so your loved ones aren’t left guessing, scrambling, or overwhelmed when it matters most.
What This Book Is Really About
At some point, someone becomes the designated person.
-
The one who fields the phone calls.
-
The one who searches for documents.
-
The one who stands in closets full of memories and wonders where to begin.
In Unbury the Burden, Hollie McEvoy shares what actually happens after a loss — not just emotionally, but logistically.
Through personal reflections and practical checklists, each chapter walks readers through the things most families never talk about until it’s too late.
This book offers:
-
Honest, relatable stories
-
Clear guidance without overwhelm
-
Tools you can actually use
-
Gentle encouragement to start now
Because leaving a legacy isn’t just about what you give.
It’s about what you leave undone.
“This isn’t about being morbid or pessimistic.
It’s about sparing the people you love from chaos when they are already grieving.”
Honoring My Mom
Why October 6 Matters
Unbury the Burden launches on October 6 — my mom’s birthday.
This book was born from the pain of losing her too soon. Releasing it on her birthday is my way of honoring her life and turning loss into something that can help others.
She isn’t here to open this gift. But I believe she would be proud knowing her story is helping families everywhere prepare with intention, clarity, and love.

About the Author
Hollie McEvoy is a wife, mother, and daughter who believes in doing the hard things — especially the ones most people avoid.
Raised in the insurance world in Northwest Arkansas, she learned early that preparation matters. But it wasn’t until she experienced sudden loss herself that she understood how much families are left to figure out that no policy or plan ever covers.
That experience became the foundation for Unbury the Burden — a book that blends personal storytelling with practical guidance to help families prepare for the inevitable and leave behind clarity instead of confusion.
She writes and speaks from lived experience — reminding others that love isn’t just what we feel; it’s what we leave behind.
She lives in Columbia, Missouri, with her husband, Morgan, and their son, Cole.
